Either Obama didn’t understand a damn thing when he was making all those promises as a candidate OR he was knowingly lying (realizing he needed to say certain things to get elected)?? So did America elect a fool or a habitual liar?? And for those still supporting him: Did he ever EXPLAIN his flip flops or do you just let him say whatever he wants and support him regardless?? 1. Obama campaigned AGAINST a federal mandate for individuals to buy private insurance………(he now supports it……..hmmmm) “I mean, if a mandate was the solution, we can try that to solve homelessness by mandating everybody to buy a house. The reason they don´t buy a house is they don´t have the money. ” -Candidate Barack Obama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoSnqofelsQ 2. Obama campaigned AGAINST taxing “cadillac plans”………..(he now supports it) “John McCain calls these plans “Cadillac plans.” Now in some cases, it may be that a corporate CEO is getting too good a deal. But what if you´re a line worker making a good American car like the Cadillac? What if you´re one of the steelworkers who are working right here in Newport News, and you´ve given up wage increases in exchange for a better health care” -Candidate Barack Obama http://firedoglake.com/2010/01/07/cadillac-flip-flop-obama-was-against-health-plan-tax-before-he-was-for-it/ 3. He also constantly railed against corporate lobbying influence in govt. (Then went on to cut a backroom deal with PhRMA within 4 months of being in office) Barack Obama on Lobbyists and His Campaign (Interview with Tim Russert) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhYD8_L0nV8 stuart………….You do realize firedoglake is a “liberal” site, right?? disher………..”Would you like me to look up a list of GWB’s failed campaign promises?” No, I’m fully aware. He did exactly the opposite of what he promised. Is this somehow a DEFENSE of Obama?? Kinda weak. patriotic…………….Again, is pointing out that Bush lied changing the fact that Obama lied too?>? trollin…………….Although I don’t agree with Kucinich on many things, at least he does stick to his principles (Obama doesn’t appear to have any principles). avail…………..”Obama hasn’t flip-flopped” YES, he did. Also “settling for the next best thing” (aka legislation that can get the votes of corporate whores in congress) is not the CHANGE Obama promised.
John McCain, at age 72, was demonized for being “too old” and “too out of touch” during the ‘08 campaign. How many more attempts could, say, Hillary Clinton (currently 62) make before she is considered “too old”?
a joke? I mean that did not get them no where?

Republican John McCain And Democrat Joe Lieberman have proposed a bill that says that if the Government believes you are a threat, you can be arrested and held indefinitely A person is considered a “high value detainee” if they fulfill one of the following criteria. (1) poses a threat of an attack on civilians or civilian facilities within the U.S. or U.S. facilities abroad; (2) poses a threat to U.S. military personnel or U.S. military facilities; (3) potential intelligence value; (4) is a member of al Qaeda or a terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda or (5) such other matters as the President considers appropriate. Now that the Southern Poverty Law Center and the federal government, via the MIAC report and innumerable other leaked documents, now consider virtually anyone with a dissenting opinion against the state as “posing a threat,” millions of peaceful American citizens could be swept up by this frightening dragnet of tyranny. However, according to the bill, an individual doesn´t even have to pose a threat to be snatched, detained and interrogated – they can merely be deemed to be of “potential intelligence value” or come under the vague and sweeping mandate of “such other matters as the President considers appropriate”. keep in mind this isn’t about party lines as both a Dem and a Repub have proposed this,I am an Independent. But I have to tell you, this smacks of a police state!! I have not seen much about this in main stream media. Your thoughts on this?

She was elected Alaska ’s governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1 Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2 She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3 Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4 She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.5 She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy.
