Palin is going to cost the GOP this election. That interview with Katie Couric was one of the sickest things I have ever seen. Christ this lady's incompetence and stupidity is scary.

response to jonny: Reagan was elected as C-in-C - with hindsight, no-one of IQ64+ complains about Reagan. In the unlikely event Sarah is taking the 3.00AM phone call, it won't be just Sarah and Bristol conferencing re what to do - there will be a couple of other wise counsellors around the table. And I see no evidence Sarah is incapable of pulling the right trigger, or less likely than 80% of USA past presidents. Despite the hype about the risk of having the wrong C-i-C, how often in last 50 years has there been a specific example of the USA C-i-C making a ridiculous blunder of consequence? Did JFK err re Vietnam? (a matter of opinion...). Did Carter err re hostages? Did Clinton err re Monica? (oops - strike that one). It just don't happen - the putative blunders by USA presidents have occurred with equal frequency from the best to the worst. The institution that is the USA Govt would come close to working just as well whether Mickey Mouse was President or Bill Clinton. The good ones add a bit, the bad ones subtract a bit. And anyway, she's only running for the Quayle spot - lets not get caught up in the whatifs of McCain falling off the twig. Shit, I might have to stop re-raising quads in case my opponent has a straight flush...... Summary (a) Sarah will 98% of time never have finger on trigger (b) if the 2% occurs, I see no evidence we should be concerned as measured against 85% of the fingers previously on said trigger.

response to pesky: with all due respect "pesky", please don't contradict yourself. the fact he has nothing to lose is why this is a good gamble - he needed to take a chance by not going for the "safe option"; OK, if he went for a wildcard who was a donkey, that would be a mad gamble. but he did not, he went for Sarah.

Don't waste that "k or 2" Jonny! Sarah Palin is gonna deliver a bravura speech in about 4 hours that will rate its socks off on American TV (of course, young Bristol and Levi might claim some of the credit for the ratings..). I'm tipping Sarah can prick Obama's convention-poll-bubble.

Your last comment looks more perspicacious imo ("McCain still being huge overs, don't wimp by hedging"). I see McCain has tightened a little Betfair $2.98 to $2.94 whilst I slept last night.

The line blowing out on McCain here is due to backlash over Sarah Palin.

I'm considering whether or not to pitch a k or 2 on her NOT being nominated tonight.

InTrade line on Palin being ditched before the election has been as high as 19% yesterday (currently trading at 14%).
